Over 30 residential buildings burned down in Yakutia due to forest fire which ravaged the village of Byas-Kyuel, the head of declared the republic Aisen Nikolaev.
As a result of a gusty wind that picked up on Saturday morning, residential houses and outbuildings in the named village began to burn. “According to operational data, 225 houses were defended against fire in the village of Byas-Kyuel. Unfortunately, 31 houses and eight outbuildings burned down. This is a big deal. We will do our best to provide accommodation for the victims as soon as possible. An emergency services spokesperson told the agency that the fire had been brought under control on Saturday afternoon.
Yakutia's forests have been blazing for three months. The fire has covered around two and a half million hectares. Forecasters say no rain has come in. 39; is still expected in the area.
