Flood death toll in eastern Afghanistan has risen at 58 people, 140 are still missing, RIA News reports with reference to the Islamic Republic's Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Livni struck the province of Nuristan on Thursday July 29th. According to the media, the “big water” demolished a total of around 100 houses.
The bodies of the dead were recovered either from the water or from the ruins of the houses. Previously, the authorities had reported 40 victims of the disaster. According to other sources, the flooding could have killed around 150 people.
Earlier, Sputnik Radio reported that the head of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Alexander Osipov, estimated the flood damage in the region at 3.7 billion rubles.
